The Fjord of Furore
The fjord of Furore (fiordo di Furore) is located between Praiano and Conca dei Marini, in the town of Furore. This little portion of the Amalfi Coast was formerly a fishermen village and then, after the industrial development, a flour mill and a paper mill were built by the torrent (Schiato) that drains the waters from the mountains above (Lattari mountains). It has been, and still is, the location for many movie sets and tv commercials. In 1948, Roberto Rossellini directed the movie “L’Amore” and the set was in Furore. By the water some old houses, part of the village, seem to be put there are by an artist to create a wonderful scenery that has become very famous among travellers. A little beach reachable by a trail from the mountains or by hundreds of steps from the bridge of the Amalfi drive, the Fjord of Furore is one of the main destinations on the coast.
